Manners?

Monday, November 23, 2009
I was taught manners, but it seems like some people never learned that and it irritates me.

For a list of manners, this is what I've come up with:

Speaking:
1. Don't interrupt someone if they are already speaking to someone else. Let them finish, then speak.

2. If you are trying to speak to someone and they are on the other side of the room- go to where they are, don't yell across the room.

3. Do not ask "Can I...?", instead use "May I...?".

4. Do not say "Yeah". You should always say "Yes" or "Yes, please".

5. Give respect to your elders when they are speaking.

6. Speak with respect to others and of others.

7. Show that you are interested in someone's conversation by paying attention and asking questions about it. Don't try to just talk about yourself or things you've done, let them talk too!

8. Don't talk back.

9. Speak in an indoor voice at all times in any indoor place. Do not speak loudly or yell.

10. Greet someone properly. Say things like, hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, etc.

11. If you missed what someone said, ask for clarification. Don't say "What?", instead say "I'm sorry?", "Pardon?" or "Could you say that again please?".

Eating:
12. When eating, eat with your mouth closed. It is disgusting when someone is chomping away and you can see the food they are eating, and hear it.

13. Don't slurp your drink.

14. Don't talk with your mouth full.

15. If you need something that is not near you on the table, such as the ketchup, you should ask "Can you pass the ketchup please?". Don't try to reach for it or point at it until someone gets it. Also, say thank you after they pass it to you.

16. If someone asks if you need something, such as a refill for your drink, say "Yes, please" or "No, thank you".

Moving About:
17. If you are opening a door and someone is behind you or close to you, hold it open for them. It is polite and I don't think anyone would want a door shut in their face.

18. If you need to get by someone, say excuse me. It is very rude just to go in front of someone and disrupt whatever they are doing.

19. If you bump into someone on accident, say sorry.

20. If you bump into someone and you knock them down, help them up and gather anything, if anything, that they dropped as well.

A Pet Peeve.

Thursday, November 5, 2009
Don't you hate it when you're confused and teachers just say
"Its not that hard"?

Well, I certainly do; it's definitely one of the many pet peeves I have. After they say that, I always think to myself,

"It may not be hard for you, but you have already learned this,
we're just beginning to learn what do to.
Give us a break."

Every person in this world has different strengths and weaknesses, their ups and downs, and their good days and bad days. I think people who are naturally good at science or math find it difficult to understand how people don't understand the material or don't do well in that subject; same for people who play sports, they don't understand how people can't run or do push ups well. I just dislike when teachers say that when people are confused about it.
Its like why don't you help us if it isn't that hard for you rather than just saying that and doing nothing? Do you really want us to fail? At least explain it thoroughly step-by-step, I think that'd help a lot. I just hate how some teachers think that we'll get everything when they first explain it and look at us like we're idiots when we don't understand it and ask questions. For one, I think its rude because we're learning and two its just annoying because they are supposed to help us learn, not put us down and ignore the questions we have on a particular subject.

Coach Poppy: Love or Hate?

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Okay, so.. There's a new collection of purses and such from Coach. I like most of it but some of it is just a bit too bright and crazy for me. I think they're trying to advertize more for teens in this collection and a lot of people aren't reacting to it well. I think it's been about half and half who likes it and who doesn't.

There's a few (well, a bunch) that I like in this collection. I've always liked coach though. I like this one on the right a lot because the colors aren't too bright and they look softer than some of the other purses in this collection. The black version if this is wonderful too. I wouldn't get it though most likely (if I even had the money to) because it's a bit too big for me.

I like smaller purses like these next two. I just love this one because it's just the right size and the design is adorable, it's not too plain either. I like some sparkles or pizazz to my purses.
Thereis a silver and a gold version of this one, the silver one is really cute too. The gold one I don't really like because I never liked gold on purses that much and It just doesn't look that great on this style. I have seen some gold purses that weren't half bad though.

There's another small one that I like that has the coach print Cs on them that comes in a white-ish silver color and black. I like both of them but am still partial to black.

The next one I like has the coach print but it's a little bit different, it has the Poppy print coming across it - kind of like graffiti. It comes in one color, tan/brown but it doesn't look bad with the color from the graffiti and the pink lining. I would love it if it came in black but that's okay, it's still a pretty purse none the less. There is also a bigger version of it but I don't like it as much as the small one. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the gold sparkles on the underside of the handle, it looks out of place to me.
This next bag they actually called it a "graffiti" bag. I really don't like and I don't know how anyone else could like it. I hate the colors, it's zigzag stipes and they are like a light blue kind teal color and then there are different colored Coach "graffitis" on the purse. It just doesn't work. I don't think I'd like it even if the colors were different. I bet some 8 or 9 year old would like it because they don't quite know what stylish is yet.

The next one is the full poppy print for the collection. I like it a lot actually. It's not super bright but still colorful. All of the colors in it work together well. Again, there is a big version and a small version, they're both pretty much the same just a different size. I'd get the smaller one just because I don't have a ton of stuff I need to have in my purse. I do think coach is trying to get a younger audience into their purses because they didn't usually have such colorful bags, usually they are just monotone bags.
That's all the ones I wanted to mention, there's a bunch of other purses that are okay. There's a clutch bag that they have in this collection that I like. It's silver and it's full of sequins, I like it though. Clutchs can be more sparkley that regular handbags because they're usually used just for parties and get togethers to carry just what you need and not lug around the big purse. There's a poppy print clutch/wristlet bag that is really cute too and I think there is a wallet too.
There is also a cute keychain that is in the shape of a heart that has the print on it. One of them is $48 and the other is $30. I don't really understand who wants to spend that much on a little keychain. I don't really understand how people want to waste 100+ dollars on a purse when you use that for something more useful, not that I'm not saying a purse isn't useful but I think your money could go to better use. I guess if your rich, you can do whatever you want to but I'm not so I can't spend that kind of money.

In Coach Japan, they made a 'cute' video that was made for the new collection. They named the character "Coach Poppy-chan", I think it is a bit tacky, but it is Japan, I'm pretty sure they think a lot differently then we do. Here's the video for it:

Remind you of Powepuff Girls much? I know Coach is trying to start something new but I don't think this is it. I think this is a bit too kiddy to me. From comments on facebook it was probably half and half again on who liked it and who didn't. Many of them were saying it doesn't support their image as a high fashion designer store, I agree. This looks like it could be set for 8-12 year olds, maybe 13 year olds. It's still cute, just never what I expected Coach to come up with. I would've never known this was Coach besides the fact that it says Coach Poppy in the beginning. I would not call this anime at all though, it just looks like a cartoon.

The shoes they have in this collection are okay but most of them I don't personally like all that well. I do like the pumps they have. They come in blue or black and the toe is sparkley. The only thing I don't like is on the black one, the toe is still sparkley blue. I think it should be black sparkles or grey sparkles. I don't know if I like the strap on the front of the ankle either. They have ballet flats too but I don't like the sequins on the front on the toe, it doesn't work with the pattern and there's just ones with only sequins, it's kind of tacky looking to me.

I do LOVE the next ones, they are wedges and they have an peeptoe. They come in black or tan and they are so cute! They have the coach print on them and there is a bow on the front with four, what I think are gold buttons. They also have ballet flats that look similar to that except the buttons are silver and there's no coach print on them and they come in black and a lighter tan.
There's one other shoe I find very interesting. They're high tops with the top part folded down and the poppy print on the fold or an white ocelot/leopard print. I don't know if I'd wear them myself or if I'd look good in them but i bet they'd look good on some people. They are pretty none the less even if I don't want to wear them.

The other shoes consist of a couple rainboots, regular high tops, a couple other ballet flats, sneakers and a pair of clogs.

They also have many other things, ties, belts, t-shirts, hankercheifs, hair ties, jewelry, a hat, and a jacket. I don't really like anything in the jewelry except for this one bracelet; it has a bunch of buttons on it, most of them are gold but there are a few silver ones, it's pretty cute. The other jewelty just looks really kiddy and kind of plastic looking.
The t-shirts just have the Poppy Coach print on them, I don't think it's worth 78 dollars. I like the hair ties, all of them actually. My favorite is a floral with the Coach Cs on the other side. The hat that they made is so adorable, it's like the purse I explained earlier that's tan and has the Poppy print on it. The jacket is pretty cute, I have to say. I don't really know if I like the fabric on the outside though. The pockets and buttons are really cute too. The ocelot print hankercheif is cute and the Poppy Label bandana is okay. I like both the chain belts, the black one more and the skinny metallic belts are cute, I like the black one best because I don't really like pink in metallic or gold. The ties are cute but I don't see any guy wearing a coach tie or the prints they have on the ties. The pink one with the stripes, maybe.

Overall I like this collection, it all fits together well.
What about your thoughts? (if anyone even comments on this).
